Proper nutrition plays, together with an active lifestyle, a fundamental role in the prevention of a number of diseases, which are very common nowadays, the so-called “diseases of lifestyle” and can be illustrated by means of the Food Pyramid.

Food such as cereals, fruit, vegetables, olive oil, dairy products and yoghurt are at the base of a healthy diet and they should be consumed on a daily basis, or even twice a day.Foods in the central portion of the pyramid (white meat, pulses, cheese and fish) should be eaten two or more times a week.And finally, at the top of the pyramid, are red meat and sweets which should to be consumed just once a week.
